So looks like there's some driver conflict or something going around. Back to normal boot, with steam already installed, it went back to square one: Double click, nothing, explorer.exe constantly at high usage.
There I was able to install steam, update and login without any problem. After uninstalling the 4 programs mentioned, I tried installing steam, no sucess.īooted into safe mode with networking on. Notice any changes you see and reply with that next, please. Launch Steam (as long as the Steam files are healthy of course) in this safe boot, and try to log into your account. Any ideas?Įdit: Oh, and this is what the task manager looks like when there's nothing going on:Įdit2: Tried to do register cleaning, but there is absolutely nothing related to steam in registry. I don't think I have any software that could interfere with steam installed. Never had any problems installing any other software. This is a fresh windows 10 install, done not more than 3 months ago. I'm using windows 10, Malwarebytes Anti-malware and Windows Defender. Service Host: Local System (12) went to 17%, which is around the 18% usage it took from explorer the first time I tried to open it normally.Īlso, after I try running it as admin, explorer.exe crashes completely, and I have to restart the computer. Now, instead of explorer usage increasing, this happened: I then tried to run the installer as admin. I believe this means that multiple processes are being started in an attempt to install, but they're getting stuck in some kind of loop. It can be seen here:Īfter double clicking it two more times, the explorer usage goes to around 50%. It will never stop, it remains at 18% usage until I restart the computer. When I double click it, explorer.exe goes to 18% cpu usage constantly. I've tried double clicking the installer with task manager open. After double clicking the installer, simply nothing happens. But when I downloaded steam and tried to install it, something went wrong. After few weeks/months, i've finally found free time to start playing again. I've upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10 pro not too long ago.
